Ditlev Nissen har arbejdet med lokaløkonomi i Christiania og økosamfundsbevægelsen siden 1994. I dag formand for Landsforeningen for Økosamfund og daglig leder af Omstillingsagent, der laver kurser inspirerede af Ecovillage Design Education.
